House sends bill that would allow return of child support payments to committee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — After an extended debate on the effects of a bill that could allow a person who is found not to be the father of a child to recoup child support payments, the House sent the bill back to the judiciary committee.

The measure sponsored by Rep. Stacey Campfield, a Knoxville Republican, would allow a person found not to be the father of a child, or children, to recover all child support payments from the actual biological father.

Rep. Sherry Jones, a Nashville Democrat, said the proposal is "terrible for children" because they will be torn from men they believe to have been their fathers.

The companion bill is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee next Tuesday.

This is a great bill in certain circumstances, but on the flip side I see it as another federal ploy to rake in massive title iv-d funds once again and jail more fathers for not having the money.

How is a father suppose to come up with lets say for example a father goes "12 years" of not knowing he has a child (because the mother has been lieing to another man that he is the father), and then all of a sudden this dumbfounded man is hit with a 40,000.00 dollar back child support bill because the paternity test proves he is the biological father? dah!!!! how in the heck is he suppose to pay it? Most likely he will end up in jail for being a deadbeat.

Why not hold the state responsible to pay back this money or the lieing mother? The retards should do a paternity test before the divorce is final to eliminate this stupid scenerio from ever happening in the first place.

Once again it falls on the father and the lieing mother walks away scott free! What a bunch of retards running this country.
