Did you know? Each state receives federal funding for services to be provided to non-custodial parents. This is in addition to the services that are mandated in Title IV of the Social Security Act, such as review, adjustment and modification.
One service that few know is available, and will not be mentioned by human service workers, is help to re-establish contact and access to our children if the custodial parent is denying them.
In my case, after about 10 calls, I tracked down an advocate in my children's county. He was the only one in the "Father's Initiative Program" and told me that his department only receives $35,000 annually, which is obviously his salary.
He finally reached my ex-wife, who told him that if I ever tried to see my kids again, she would call the Sheriff. She had made several false reports of domestic violence during the divorce, one that went all the way to a jury, who found me "Not Guilty". I asked my advocate to write me a letter stating what she had told him and he was doing just that, but called me that next day to tell me that his "boss", the manager of the Department of Child Support Enforcement, "ordered" him to deny me all services and close my file.
This is a blatant crime and I have reported it to local and federal authorities. I even sent the Sheriff's Captain a copy of the taped conversation, but he refused me an investigation anyway and told me that CSE and the mother have the right to deny access and contact with my children if I am not paying my child support. When I tried to explain that I do not owe child support and can prove the essential elements of several crimes in the child support program, he hung up on me.
Call your state's human service office and ask to talk to someone that knows about the state's federally funded programs for non-custodial parents. I urge all NCPs to get a $14.99 device at Radio Shack to hook up your phone to a micro-cassette recorder or direct into your computer. Tape all your calls with child support personnel and help me put them in jail where they belong.
I will be posting other federally funded programs for non-custodial parents as I think of them.
