August 12, 2010. Not only has Cobb County Judge Kenneth Nix and Fulton County Chief State Court Judge Albert L. Thompson stepped down in the last week amidst allegations of improper conduct. Two civil lawsuits in federal court in Georgia have also been filed against three other Georgia Judges.
Chief Superior Court Judge Frank C. Mills, III of Cherokee County and Superior Court Michael C. Clark of Gwinnett County - Federal law filed for constitutional and statutory violations. (Moore v. Chief State Judge Clyde J. Gober of Cherokee County - Federal law filed for constitutional and statutory violations. (Boeff v. Gober, Civil Action File No. 1:2010cv01116, United States District Court, Northern District - Atlanta Division).
In the past 12 months, eight Georgia judges have resigned regarding allegations of improper conduct or have been removed from office.
1) Probate Court Judge Kenneth Fowler of Twiggs County - Removed from office by Georgia Supreme Court.
2) Circuit Superior Court Judge Oliver Harris Doss, Jr. of Appalachian Judicial Circuit - Resigns after formal charges filed by Judicial Qualifications Commission.
3) Superior Court Judge Kenneth Nix of Cobb County - Resigns amidst allegations of improper conduct.
4) Superior Court Judge Johnnie L. Caldwell Jr. of Fayette County - Resigns amidst allegations of sexual harassment.
5) Chief Superior Court Judge Ernest "Bucky" Woods of Mountain Judicial Circuit - Resigns after allegations about an inappropriate relationship with a defendant on Facebook.
6) Chief Superior Court Judge Paschal English of Fayette county - Resigns after being caught having sex with assistant public defender.
7) Municipal court Judge Dianne Busch of Marietta and Woodstock - Resigns after charges of giving alcohol to minors.
8) State Court Judge Albert L. Thompson of Fulton County - Resigns abruptly regarding shorten work hours.
