Well Today i find out in about 12 hours if im going to jail for Flagrant Nonsupport. You see i live in Kentucky and missed 5 child support payments due to not having a job i was arrested 2 weeks ago for Flagrant Nonsupport. the only income i have is Survivors benefits for me and my 7 year old daughter from my deceased Wife. The child by another mother is where the Child support comes in. But as it stands ive never been arrested never in any trouble with the law in my life but i miss five payments and now i can be looking at 1-5 years jail time and not only that i go to school full time in the registered nursing program and if the felony stays and i cant get them to drop it to a misdemeanor ill be kicked out of the nursing program and loose custody of my daughter. How is this right that the only survivng parent of a child can be locked up for simply falling behind due to economic hardship? I have honestly never been this scared in my life the jail doesnt bother me its the thought of loosing my daughter whom is my world...

wow! I am really sorry to hear about this potential catastrophe. It is wrong to do this too you no matter how you look at it.
Hopefully due to the economic problems they will be light with you. I hope the best for you and that you can get through this.
Please keep in touch and let us know what is happening.

Well im Home the good news is no jail time. The bad news is this trip cost me $1600.00 plus $250.00 Court cost which was paid Via A Lien against my house which was paid off before this. And on top of this since i can no longer be trusted in the states eyes to pay my child support. For the next two years im on probation and must report to court once a month to make sure im still paying it.When i asked today about lowering my child support because the mother is now working and when it was set 6 years ago she wasnt. The DA Basicly laughed in my face!
So now even tho i make not even half what i did then i have no way out so at this point im looking at dropping out of school to pick up extra income. My home is on the line and all Kentucky cares about is when is the money gonna be there!

I'm sure they are charging you probation fees too huh? Glad to hear you didnt get locked up. Yeah they dont base child support on what the mother makes, its all on you and what you make.........or what they feel like charging you.

Thats 85 more than what you were paying huh? You need to stay on top of it or they will now lock you up since they have another tool to use against ya, "the probation tool".....
