Enforcement?.... Someday
By Sherry – Guest Writer & Casualty of War
I am a mother of 3 wonderful children, 2 with my X, and a 13 month old with a guy I've been dating for several years. He has a son who is eight, and he has tried over and over but hasn't been allowed to see him in almost 5 months (before that he never missed standard visitation, driving over 100 miles each way). I don't know how any mother, who really loves her child, can play them like a pawn on a chessboard. It makes me sick. This poor guy, (the Father) you should see him. His health is affected, he is wrought with grief, and he even has nightmares that something bad will happen to his son. His X divorced him, but she couldn't get over him. When I came along and then we had a child, she snapped like a twig. She decided her new love would be a convicted felon with a 40-year sentence for murder, aggravated robbery, drugs, etc. She has even taken the boy to the prison for visits!
When dad found out what was going on, he talked to both of them about his concern and disapproval of their SON being exposed to that kind of environment. Since that time, (first week in April), he has not been allowed any form of access to his son. So his mother, who is now big on "prison ministry", deems it ok to provoke hatred towards dad but acceptance towards the "wonderful" Texas inmate who is now eligible for parole. It is absolutely crazy; especially considering that I KNOW that he is an incredible dad, to both of his sons.
We took her to the last court of jurisdiction (Travis County) for contempt and the Judge ordered the hearing moved to the boy's new county of residence Robertson County) and wouldn't even hear the case. What was really insulting is that she (the ex) threw up allegations of "anger problems" and even brought the felon's mother with her to court, citing her as a "friend". Please. Now we are stuck waiting for a new hearing in a county where her sister happens to work for the DA's office and loves to throw her weight around. The local authorities have refused to enforce his visitation orders time after time and now they won't even write up any more reports to show she is still denying access. Did I mention that the DA and the sheriff are first cousins? Hmmm.....
The bottom line is that PA is real and it is horrible and the courts sit back and REFUSE to accept alienation as something serious that demands immediate attention. I don't know if we will see justice anytime soon, but I can say that I would be more than willing to spend my entire net worth to see some justice in court for a father and son (and little brother) who deserve to have a relationship.
